What is an Apostille? On 14 May 2019, Philippines became a member of the Apostille Convention. Effective this date, Philippine embassies or consulates located in countries that are part of the Apostille Convention will no longer authenticate documents that are to be used in the Philippines. So goodbye red ribbon, and hello apostille!

Also, effective 15 June 2019, pursuant to the instruction of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila, the Philippine Embassies will no longer use the red satin ribbon on legal documents submitted for authentication or notarization, but will instead affix the eyelet and gold seal with impression on documents.
