Ever wonder what it's like to live in Key West Full Time? Well, in this video I'm going to cover the pros and cons of living in Key West with respect to what I love and what I hate.

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE Key West but no matter where you live there are good and notsogood things to consider anyplace you live. To keep the video as short as possible, I left out a few pros and cons that I will list below for those interested in knowing "the rest of the story".

Con Aircraft noise: Because I live in Old Town Key West, I happen to live directly in the flight path of the Key West International Airport. That means that day and night I have airplanes (read: jets) flying right over the top of my house. When I first moved here it was somewhat unsettling, I often felt as if I could reach up and touch the landing gear from my upstairs porch. The good news is that several times a week they switch the flight path to the opposite direction which quiets things down considerably. Also, planes don't arrive all night long, usually only until around 10pm or 11pm and sometimes flights quit earlier than that. Rarely does a flight arrive earlier than 7am or 8am.

Con Uber and Lyft drivers from out of town: Drivers come down from Miami when things are slow to make a killing down here shuffling the tourists around the island. Being from "the big city" many of them tend to drive as if they are being chased which is the cause of many accidents on the island. Unsuspecting pedestrians and bicyclists should take extra caution once they venture off the sidewalks and protected bike paths. "Right of Way" is a matter of opinion by these drivers and they won't yield to pedestrians or bikes in most cases. Local cab drivers aren't much better but at least they know the island better and are usually more cautious in the areas prone to accidents.

Pro Winter weather: In the winter (October through March / April) the weather is BEAUTIFUL and usually in the low 70's with a light breeze and low humidity. It's nothing short of perfect!

Pro Diversity If you are like me and love being around a diverse mix of people then Key West is a place you will truly love. The community is inclusive in nature, nonjudgmental, and fun to be around. Key West is called home by cool people from all walks of life which makes our One Human Family.
