What are the charges for first time unlawful gun possession crime?

The penalties for the first unlawful gun possession can be up to a year in county jail or up to three years in state prison. If that person has a prior strike conviction, the penalty can be up to six years in state prison for which they serve 80%.
When it's a misdemeanor, a person may face up to one year in county jail. If it is a felony, a person may face three years in state prison. Those are all served at 50%.
