A sweet tribute to the memories of Misty life; the joy she brought and the gift of her protection over us.

The boxes are checked

The day is over,
The time has come,
For you to check the last box
There’s just one

You’ve done all you were sent to do,
Your time here is over,
its time to go through,
That beautiful white light at the start of the rainbow,
Its just the beginning of your new life,
Where your new body is able

Dont be afraid,
You’ve loved,
You’ve played,
You protected,
You guided,
Always so excited.
You gave your family all of your years,
You sat by our side, through all of our tears

You’ve loved unconditionally,
Your boundary knows no limit
You’ve challenged your body on more than one occasion
Those tired eyes give away your body’s duration

I know that you want to stay here forever and watch over our family, and live on forever and ever.
You won’t ever stop loving us,
This we know is true, but life must end,
Right now, here for you.

But know that it’s not over, it’s only for now
Because someday we shall meet again, someway, somehow,
On the other side of that rainbow,
arms stretched wide open,
our embrace will be familiar and sweet,
No words will be spoken.

Just the feeling of love, a smile and a hug.

One last box to be checked, a trip to the heavens up above.

Dear Misty,

Thank you for your protection, you always watched over our family well.
Thank you for your goofy demeanor to break up the day and make us laugh. Your fear of spiders, and the way you could open doors to run away from them always left us laughing and in awe of your special talent.
Thank you for the way you watched over our children like a true shepherd watches over it’s flock.
You had us snowed over from the very beginning when we went to that farm, just to look at the litter of you and your siblings. You were so chill laying in the grass while your brothers and sister chased each other and tore up anything they could find. But you, the picture of a calm, collected, ball of love. And as soon as we got you home, boy did that change! From the moment we walked in the door with you, your energy was wild! I remember asking the vet often, when is she going to hit that “calm” after puppyhood and I think when you turned nine, yeah that was when we saw you relax a bit!
Thank you for serving us and always being by our sides in times of sadness, joy, excitement and in times of trials when the heaviness of life felt unbearable, you were always there quick to place your head in my lap and lift my spirits.
Thank you for the laughter you gave us when we watched you run and play, you had this crazy gallop, that almost mimicked a donkey who goes kicking through the field when you were so excited!
Thank you for your crazy herding skills trying to keep everyone all together!
Thank you for sitting in my lap even when you probably were too big for that but you didn’t mind.
Thank you for your sweet kisses and always knowing when i needed you.
Your intelligence always wowed us, all the way up to the end. The way you knew when something was wrong and you had your own way of showing or telling us.
I am grateful for all of your life all the way up to the last moments. Thank you for showing me you were reunited with your heaven family! Brody and Riley, I know they were excited to see you, along with all of your other fur friends. They’ve been waiting a long time.
