What fun to have delicious and savory breakfast sausages, knowing that no pig was hurt in the process. In addition, how satisfying that you are eating what is usually a very fatty food, but this has no oil or fat added to it. Sausages are a good way to add texture and flavor crumbled over a soup, stew, or beans, or over a salad.

You can tell while you’re preparing the recipe, before pressing into patties, that there is a lot of authentic country flavor in these. Play around with the seasonings as you like, but try them as the recipe outlines at first.

Try a touch of maple syrup on them if you like.
