After 13 days, UWMilwaukee protesters are packing up following Chancellor Mark Mone's announcement of an agreement with protesters Sunday night.

The encampment is part of a national movement to call attention to the war in Gaza and urge Universities to cut ties and divest from companies in business with Israel. Several university protests became violent and protesters clashed with police, but not at UWM.

In a statement from Mone, he expressed his gratitude the protest was conducted peacefully. He also expressed he did not ask police to break up the encampment because the university "prioritized the safety of everyone involved, which meant seeking resolution through dialogue with our students."

Students met with the UWM staff several times to work towards a peaceful resolution.
