Hey folks! We're back from Hawaii and we thought it was time for an update! From selling our camper, to buying our first house and then finding out our dog Chief has cancer, it's been a wild 8 months to say the least! Check out the video for the full update. Thanks for the support! Peace and love.

CHIEFS STORY
Let's take it back to February of 2022. Chief has been living his best life. Loving beach days, playing with his other pup friends, and lots of road trips. But, we notice his ankle is swollen, and he is limping. We take him to the vet and treat him for a sprained ankle. They say if he isn't better in a week, come back. Well, a week later, we were back. Austin had a nagging suspicion that it was something more and he was absolutely right. He brought up something he had read about bone cancer in dogs showing up just like this "sprained ankle". The vet did Xrays and blood work, and sure enough, it was determined he was dealing with Osteosarcoma. Our lovely vet explained the importance of getting this taken care of ASAP, explaining this tends to be a very aggressive cancer and once it moves into the lungs, there's nothing more you do. Life expectancy was less than 6 months without any treatment.

One week later, Chief had his leg amputated. The day after his amputation, the vet wanted to see Chief to make sure the sedation was wearing off properly. He said, "if he needs to just hang out in the car, I can come out to him." Well, Chief woke up that morning happy and so excited to go for a car ride and visit his friends. He galloped into the vet, so proud of his threeleggedself. Those weeks were some of the hardest in our lives, but Chief handled it happily, like the fighter he has been since day one.

Now, Chief is perfectly used to life on three legs and is fully recovered from the amputation but the fight isn't done. To ensure that the cancer doesn't spread, it was highly recommended we follow up with 6 rounds of Chemotherapy. All of our independent research confirmed this was the best option. Chief is currently in round 3 and is handling it like a champ. Chemo doesn't quite affect animals like it does humans, so his life has continued on like normal. For us, not so much.

Chemotherapy costs us nearly $700 every three weeks. I know, you probably think we're crazy. But, if you know Chief, you know how special he is. He is our family. We decided at the beginning of all of this, that there is always an opportunity to make money, but there is only one opportunity to save our boy. We would do whatever needed to be done.

We have picked up extra jobs, picked up furniture on the side of the road to sell, cut down on our living costs, and even made shirts and stickers to raise money for Chief. We didn't plan on creating a GoFundMe, but we have had people ask us, so here we are. We are so forever grateful for all of the love and support our family has received during this time. Whether it's a donation, a share or just kind words... every bit helps. We appreciate you.

Lots of love and puppy kisses, The Reaves Family.
