Two dogs and one speeding car - WATCH this before you get a Great Pyrenees! Do shock collars work?

Story telling time with security camera footage so you know I'm not kidding.

Our two Great Pyrenees, Betty and Bernard, had a bit of their own spring break adventure recently. While they seemed to enjoy themselves after a romp around town it was when they finally came home that tragedy almost struck. While I don't know if they were after coyotes again, I do know they tested their boundaries which led to their successful escape.

If you plan on getting a Great Pyr (or two), just know they are wonderful dogs but they do have a strong drive to roam, especially at night since they are nocturnal by nature. We're only on 9ish acres, but even if we had 100+ acres I'm convinced it still wouldn't be enough for these two. They've been perimeter trained and they know their boundaries, which is enforced by an ecollar that they've also been trained on, but while they stay home for the most part they still regularly test the boundaries because why not. You'll understand how I know this when you watch this video.

Disclaimer: Before you comment about the use of electric dog fence collars, please understand we use them for the safety of our dogs (watch the video as I explain why). The reality is these dogs would be just as likely to escape with any traditional fencing. (When Bernard was a pup, he escaped an area we had enclosed with 4 ft fencing.)

This is the electric dog fence we use: https://amzn.to/37WoUxf
