Toyota W56 Manual Transmission Rebuild: Complete Reassembly - 4Runner u0026 Pickup 22RE

Complete W56 transmission rebuild and repair in my residential garage! Installing a brand new bearing, seal, and gasket kit to completely refresh and repair this transmission from my 1987 Toyota 4Runner. Ever wondered how a manual transmission works/operates? Take one apart!

Previously it blew an input shaft bearing so I went through the entire transmission, tore it apart, cleaned up all the metal shavings, removed everything, and now I'm putting it back together and guess what...IT WORKS!

The W56 was found in the Toyota 4Runner and Pickup from 1985 1995, both 2WD and 4WD models. Should also apply to other Toyota Transmissions including W55, W56A, W56B, W56C, W56D, W56E, W57, W58, and W59. This transmission is found in the Toyota Pickup and 4Runner, but should also apply to later Tacoma and T100 models using the W59 and Celica, Cressida which also use a similar transmission.

Previously I tore the entire transmission down and completely disassembled it. You can check out the last videos below!
