Embracing Friendship with Christ

Whoever loves me will keep my word, says the Lord,
and my Father will love him and we will come to him.

Gospel: John 15:917
Jesus said to his disciples: "As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.

These things I have spoken to you, so that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be fulfilled. This is my commandment: that you love one another, just as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this: that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I will no longer call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. This I command you: that you love one another."

Reflection: What aspects of your relationship with God reflect selfless love, and how can deepening this friendship bring fulfillment and transformation to your life?

Prayer: My God and true Friend, You offer me everything in life. You offer me Your perfect love, given fully and without reserve. I pray that I will reciprocate that depth of love and offer to You all that You deserve. I offer You my love, worship and obedience, dear Lord. May this mutual love form a bond that will never end. Jesus, I trust in You.
