A VPN uses a technology called tunneling, a virtual pointtopoint connection. Tunneling creates a secure encrypted connection where traffic remains private as it travels. VPN comes in many different shapes in terms of technologies and services. Today I will talk about three basic types of VPN: sitetosite VPN, clienttosite VPN, and commercial VPN for personal use.
