Take a short boat ride past the three fishwheels running in Rampart Rapids this season. King Salmon run is just starting and a number of other fish species will make their migration to the upper river to spawn through out the summer and fall. In the early and mid 1900's an estimated 300 of these would be running in the Yukon drainage providing essential food and local barter for villages. Today commercially bought fish nets have replaced almost all the wheels but a few exist here and there like around the village of Tanana and this area called the Rapids. Little bit of outboard motor noise on video so sorry for that.
