Hello YouTube land! This video we wanted to show how much the dogs love the motorbike ❤
These bikes are super fun and have been a big part of the daycare since we began.
Ok, yes, Keven and I love bikes and we loved ripping around on them even before the daycare started, but once we realised how beneficial they were for daycare and the dogs, we were super excited
Being on the little bikes it is much less daunting for the dogs, compared to being a full sized dirt bike and riding around them. Being more on their level gives them a better sense of comfort and enjoyment.
Some dogs absolutely love going flat out and you can open up the bike, which is fun for the rider and those dogs. Then there are dogs who like to just trot alongside, having a nice leisurely run. This is so important being able to mix it up and not just always going fast. The team will very often just go for slow rides around the property with the dogs tagging along, they just love it.
It doesn't always go right though with riding motorbikes, comes crashing motorbikes.
It's not IF you're going to crash, it's WHEN are you going to crash. But that's all part of it, Kev got a little throttle happy and missed the back brake while doing a wheelie, BAM, or however Brit explained it you snap a rear guard. Ah well!
The team spends a lot of time doing some training with the dogs around the bikes, as Kev mentioned they can get very excited and over threshold when the bikes come out, so they always work with the dogs before, during and after, to try make sure everyone is learning how to behave around them.
There are some very valuable lessons that they teach the dogs, and these can be applied in many situations that dogs get over excited in.
All in all, the bikes are a wonderful part of Doggy Days and Farm Stays, and we hope you enjoyed this little video.
