Mexico City is a territory of volcanoes, the mega city is surrounded by more than 100 volcanic cones. The eruption of one of them, the Xitle Volcano, completely devoured the ancient civilization of Cuicuilco, as it was buried by lava.

Subsequently, the volcanic stone created one of the most fascinating ecosystems in the world: El Pedregal, where the plant kingdom recovers little by little, under extreme conditions, the place that belonged to it for thousands of years.

We also rappelled down to one of the last natural strongholds in Mexico City, the Xitle lava tunnels, which originated the entire Pedregal that covers the south of the capital.

At any moment a new volcanic territory can be born in this volcano, and destroy everything in its path, that is why it is essential to know the history of those who were before us, the Cuicuilcos.
