The small hound's origins are a little cloudy but the racy outline and flowing lines of the Whippet stem from a breed built for speed, with dogs able to cover 200 yards in just about 10 seconds.
Almost always the biggest entry of the Hound group at UK dog shows, and with the strength and depth or quality particularly in bitches in recent years Whippets have seen success in the show ring.
In 2016 Ch Nothing Compares To You at Crosscop won Dog World Arden Grange Top Dog competition for being the most successful dog for the whole year winning several Best in Show titles along the way. Another bitch, Ch Collooney Tartan Tease then won Best in Show at the biggest show of all, Crufts 2018.
