While quite a few people have claimed to invent the stiletto heel shoe over the years, the truth is still a mystery. They were suddenly everywhere as of 1953, filling pages of advertisements, but where did they come from? High heels are one of the most iconic images today, and to claim such a title as the inventor of THE most iconic high heel would be an easy claim to history. But fashion has never been that simple. While Ferragamo and Vivier argue over the first steel filled stiletto heel to hit the market, Perguia is inventing strange and extreme designs left and right from the 1910s on. And that's nothing to say about the term "stiletto heel" and it's even stranger origins.
