The revolution guilty of genocide? - Vendée War

Follow
Nota Bene

In 1789, the revolution broke out. If we can have a romantic image that a united people climbing on the barricades to defend their rights and a new mode of governance, it is actually far from the truth. Not only is unity precarious, but the people are divided on the gait. In the countryside, and especially in the Vendée, some initiatives of the revolution do not pass at all, and they let it know! The revolutionary government then sends troops to quell the rebels: the beginning of a genocide? Big focus on this particularly controversial and complex episode!
