NOTE: All information in this video is based on publicly available information and it is intended to be a general overview for those interested in the biker history of Alberta.

In this video I give a general overview of the Rebels Motorcycle Club, an outlaw motorcycle club that was founded in Red Deer, Alberta in 1968.

Prior to the Hells Angels becoming the dominant club in Alberta in the late 1990s, many smaller motorcycle clubs operated in Alberta. During the 1970s and 1980s the Rebels Motorcycle Club were the most prominent club in the Edmonton area.

The March 1975 "Battle of the Kingsway" saw a group of outnumbered Rebels square off against a group of armed Canadian Forces Airborne soldiers in Edmonton. This event became legendary throughout the province and served to cement the reputation and notoriety of the Rebels in Alberta.

In the 1980s, after merging with the Loners Motorcycle Club of Saskatchewan, the Rebels had 5 charters across Canada Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Toronto.

By the late 1990s most Rebels had patched over to the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, which had become the most dominant group in Alberta. In 2001 Joey "Crazy Horse" Morin reached out to the Bandidos Motorcycle Club with the intent of patching over to that group.
In 2004 Joey Morin and an associate were gunned down at a strip club in Edmonton. At the time they were associated with the Bandidos and they were suspected to have been in Edmonton to set up shop for that club. Their murders were thought to have been committed by the Hells Angels to prevent this from happening.

The Rebels MC of Edmonton is thought to have shut down in 2004, but the Rebels MC name has popped up in the media in recent times:

A 2018 Edmonton Journal article said that police were aware of a Rebels MC charter in Edmonton.

in 2021 a group of Hells Angels and Rebels got into a fight at a gas station in Cranbrook, BC. 5 bikers went to the local hospital with stab wounds and the police had to lock down the hospital as bikers from both sides arrived. Police escorted the Rebels to the AlbertaBC border and the Hells Angels left the next day.

In September 2023, 4 Rebels members were arrested for their involvement with a violent home invasion in Crowsnest Pass.

The Rebels Motorcycle Club has figured prominently into the biker history of Alberta throughout the decades.
