Their names were Burton, Speke, Stanley or Livingstone. They walked the tracks of Africa, followed the waterways, circled the lakes. A large number of Africans, porters, guides perished for them, for their spirit of conquest, for their thirst for discovery. Some of these explorers made it possible to better understand the course of the river, but not all of them met with the same success. Some even paid with their lives for their determination to discover the sources of the river…
