Weighing in at almost 800lbs and strong enough to pull houses off their foundation, the RPO L18 Vortec 8100 8.1L 496 CID Chevy Big Block Engine was installed in 3/4 and 1 ton Chevy and GMC trucks from 20012007. Known for its power output and durability, it was the largest cubic inch displacement engine installed in GM passenger vehicles and billed as the diesel alternative.

Even though this engine is the same architecture as the previous BB Chevy generations, it was redesigned to the point that almost nothing is interchangeable with the older engines.
