Last held in 2019, the Cholmondeley Castle classic car show returned to Cheshire for 2023 and the turnout was as good as ever I think. This particular classic cars show used to held at the castle (pronounced "Chumlee Castle") on a twiceyearly basis, then dropped back to just once per year, then with youknowwhat it disappeared from the calendar until this year, and we're very happy that it's back again.
The Cholmondeley Castle classic car show is a oneday event so fingers were crossed that the weather gods would be on our side on the Sunday, the forecast was promising for the main and the only drops of rain we encountered were back home after the show as we were opening up the garage at Old Classic Car HQ.
We took the Renault 4CV and the MX5, and dad his trusty MGB. As in previous years a group of us got together as a club and had a stand, other vehicles were a wartime Jeep, a 1954 Chevy 3100 pickup, and a Citroen C15 van, the latter carrying a superoriginal French Velo Solex moped.
In this video I check out some of the old cars as they drive in, walk around to see the exhibits once they were in place, and hunt down a few cutpriced gems in the autojumble area. This is an event that we've been to many times over the years, but this is the first time I've done a video of the Cholmondeley Castle classic car show so I'm pleased to add it in with all the others already on the channel. As this is a classic cars channel I focus mainly on the older exhibits, rather than the modern cars that were to be found on a number of the larger club stands.
Highlights for us included a wonderful Austin coach (based on a K8 van chassis), a convertible Vauxhall Cresta ESeries, 1935 Rover P1 Sports Saloon, a rare 1950s Hillman Minx drophead coupe, and an Austin 7 van to name just a few of the hundreds of classic vehicles in attendance.
