Surfing’s fundamentally about hope. There’s always a great day around the corner. The best wave of your life is out there somewhere, waiting for you to show up. Well, here’s a story about a day when those best ever waves showed up for pretty much everyone in the lineup. A powerful Southern Ocean storm and an incredibly promising forecast ignited that hope in hundreds of hearts. The hope pulled people from near and far toward one of the finest tropical reef breaks in the world. Some planehopped from the other side of the planet, others loaded up a tin boat with giant boards and puttered the 30 minutes out from Viti Levu, all watched and surfed the finest and most surreal waves to break anywhere on earth so far in 2024.
