This was exciting to see E23 on the hunt with swooping ducks at the pond and making its first fishing attempt at 115 days old! The footage opens with E23 flying in from across the street and lands on the attic. The shrikes are terrible and dive bomb E23 till they fly off the attic. In route to the office oak, E23 sees an opportunity to practice its hunting skills and swoops and dives down on a duck in the pond. The duck ducks under the water and is safe as E23 flies to the office oak.

A few minutes later, the duck gets up on the pond pylon and E23 makes a second swooping pass at it and it quickly dunks in the water to escape! E23 flies around the pond heading west till out of view. Then the duck swims back to the same pylon (not a smart move!) and no sooner did it get up on the pylon E23 comes swooping down for a third pass! The duck dunks again and E23 flies off. In regular time and slomo!

E23 is not finished with practicing its hunting skills quite yet! E23 will make a deliberate low flying pass over the water, have landing gear talons down and grabs at the water (trying to catch a fish) and then flies off. (Timestamp 07:23) E23 did not catch a fish but it was an outstanding attempt! I included it in slomo and zoom.

E23 will continue to practice its hunting skills while here in the pasture with M15 & F23 which will help prepare E23 for when it is out on its own foraging for food. Thank you for watching!
