"Modern ballet is unimaginable without Mikhail Fokin.⚘⚘ Today is his Memorial Day.
At the beginning of the 20th century ballet was going through a tough time, many believed, that this art form was dying. Dance needed a new Creator and Mikhail Fokin became such a choreographer for Russian ballet. His art changed the concept of classical dance and gave ballet a new impetus to development. He suggested to create not a single dance, but a holistic composition, in which music, plastic and scenery were harmonically combined. He revived the male dance, which had almost completely disappeared by that time. One of his most famous ballets is “The Dying Swan” – a solo dance, created special for Anna Pavlova to Camille SaintSaen’s music. Due to the fusion of the sound and the choreography, this miniature is considered as the embodiment of tenderness, vulnerability and beauty. Every time I contact with Fokin’s immortal choreography, which is a symbol of Russian Ballet, I feel awe and delight...❤"
