This is one of my favorite plants and one that always elicits oohhs & aahhs. It is very easy to grow outside in a warm zone or in containers and overwinter it in cooler areas. The plant can get large so make sure to give it plenty of room. It will produce a pineapple, which sometimes is tasty and other times it is not it depends upon how the pineapple is grown. The pineapple is a monocarpic plant, which means the mother will die back after the fruit is finished, but she puts out various propagules to replace her.
