Scorpions are arachnids and close relatives of another familiar eightlegged animal, the spider. They are known for having poisonous tails with stingers, lobsterlike bodies, and intimidating pincers.

There are over 2,500 species of scorpion across 22 families and they are found on almost every continent and inhabit a host of different habitats, including rainforests and deserts.
