Spiro Madness and Myth

Follow
Spectrum: The Other Clinic

Requiring Spironolactone (or any Testosterone blocker) for feminizing hormone therapy is a persistent falsehood in transgender hrt. The vast majority of femme trans people can use solo Estrogen therapy in order to suppress their T production naturally (see other video for how this process works in the body), but this Spiro requirement myth is alive and well years after having been shown to be unnecessary for most people. Herein is a brief discussion of why this myth persists.
*Apologies for how fast I speak in the video, I was trying to make it brief and not as longwinded as usual.

P.S. I am not saying that people with T blockers can’t have happy/good transitions. I just feel that trans people get force fed medical garbage information from multiple sources (reddit, discord, FB, and even healthcare providers who don't know better) which makes them ever so more dependent on the healthcare system in general.

P.S.S. Those looking for further reading and sources, this discussion is basic endocrinology science and can be found in any endocrinology text that addresses sex hormone function in relation to the hypothalamuspituitarygonadal axis.
