Spearfish Canyon is the Northern Hills' number one natural attraction. A great spot for wildlife enthusiasts, as the diverse array of plant life provides a comfortable home for deer, mountain goats, porcupines and bobcats, Spearfish is also a place for outdoor enthusiasts. Rock climbing, biking, hiking, and fishing are just a few of the activities that visitors and residents utilize this natural wonder for. The waters within this canyon are crystal clear and refreshing on a hot summer day. This adventure was by far one of my favorite canyon experiences to date.

In today’s fulllength adventure to Spearfish Canyon we will explore 5 of the most popular attractions:

Spearfish Canyon Community Caves Just a short hike up a steep incline leading to a popular climbing spot. This section of the canyon features naturallyformed cave dwellings which are great for exploration.

Bridal Veil Falls Cascading approximately 60 feet, Bridal Veil Falls is the most accessible waterfall in the canyon. The Falls flows intensely in the spring and slows considerably in late summer and fall. It is located adjacent to a large parking lot to accommodate sightseers. An observation platform has been installed to optimal viewing and photos.

Devil's Bathtub Devil’s Bathtub is one of the most rewarding hikes in Spearfish Canyon. About a 1015 minute drive from the stoplight in Spearfish that marks the beginning of the canyon, the entire hike can be done and over with within an hour or can be stretched out to last the entire afternoon, depending on your hiking experience. What are the directions to the tub? The bathtub is located in Spearfish Canyon so you eventually need to be on the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway. Heading from Spearfish you will be going south. The turn off is between Bridal Veil Falls and Savoy. More specifically, between Bridal Veil Falls and the curve you can park at to hike Eleventh Hour.

Roughlock Falls Take a break from your day to experience Roughlock Falls, a breathtaking multitiered waterfall along Little Spearfish Canyon.
Pioneers traveling down the canyon used to lower their wagons down the drop by roughlocking the wheels to prevent them from rolling freely hence the name of the falls. Parking and facilities are available as well as picnic areas and maintained walking paths.

Spearfish Falls Spearfish Falls is slightly off the beaten path, but well worth the walk. It is located in the heart of Spearfish Canyon near the Savoy area.
The trail to the waterfall begins on the north side of the Latchstring Inn restaurant and guides you to the bottom of the canyon where it takes you to the roaring waters of Spearfish Falls. Be sure to wear good shoes as the trail can be slippery at times. For those wishing to skip on the hike, there is an overlook deck on the south side of the restaurant.
Spearfish Falls is approximately 12.8 miles south of the north entrance of Spearfish Canyon.

As always thanks for for watching and for the continued support! I appreciate each and every one of you.
