The ever changing 7 month Falconry Season we enjoy presents challenges with each change in weather and conditions. If it's not massive stubble fields making the spotting of huns challenging, then its snow and bitter temperatures and then snow drifts that make field access difficult. As the snow depth deepens this presents yet another challenge as the partridge quickly adapt to using it to escape the falcon, either by flying into it much like a duck does with an inexperienced falcon attempting to hit over big water, or the hun is hit into deep powder snow and the falcon can't see it and carries on or remounts.

For me getting stuck in these fields is not an option. No tow truck will come and most farmers would be upset if you make a nuisance of yourself by asking for a tow out. Sometimes having 4x4 only serves to get you stuck deeper ! Then of course there are those 30c to 47c temperatures we've had that make such a predicament life threatening.

The point of mentioning this is that nothing its constant and both falcons, dogs and falconer must adapt with the weather and condition changes within a 7 month season.
