Should you go to Isle Royale We take you through the Challenges to make your trip to Isle Royale happen should you choose to go! This is the least visited National Park in the lower 48 of the United States. Though that is true, it is also the most revisited for its backcountry adventure. This National Park has extreme limited access via boat or sea plane thus making it not the easiest place to go. The limited access adds to both the opportunity and cost associated with getting to this park.
The shear remoteness of the park requires that you pack in and pack out all essential items and if staying over night all your camping necessities.
A very popular option is the one day visit where you have a limited number of hours on the island to hike explore, animal watch etc and return to the main land at the end of the day. We opted to do a day tour to the island and it was a great adventure for sure. We will caution of the the challenges is the weather as Isle Royale gets 2040 inches of rain per year and the rainy season is the summer time when we chose to go there. We did encounter rain and we strongly recommend wet weather gear, and layers as the temperature varied dramatically throughout our day on the island.
This National Park is famous for its wildlife, moose, wolf, red fox etc and though we did not see any on our trip we were still pleasantly satisfied with the experience and beauty of this park.
