Isle Royale: Backpacking 85 Miles in the Least Visited National Park in the Lower 48

Over Fourth of July weekend, I headed North to my current home's state only National Park to backpack from Rock Harbor to Windigo and back along a majority of the Greenstone trail. Which entailed over 85 miles and 10,000 feet of vert traversing the island from Dock to Dock and back in under 96 hours.

It was an experience I won't soon forget as I got to travel across the Mackinaw Bridge back up into the UP and to my college town of Houghton, Michigan. From there I took the Ranger III out to Isle Royale NP.

It was nice getting a pasty at Roy's, driving down my campus main drag, enjoying the view of the Houghton lift bridge, and just remembering my college years in Houghton. All these things reminded me how special of a place Houghton and the 906 really is!

The days out on Isle Royale were amazing, getting to be in pure wilderness with more moose than people around was a great break from the normal day to day grind.
