Tom reviews the new MercedesAMG C43 and finds its new twolitre engine isn’t the major problem. They would be the stiff ride, jerky auto and creaky interior.

The MercedesAMG C43 is a sporty sedan from Mercedes that uses a version of the A45’s 2.0litre M139 turbo petrol fourcylinder engine. Here, it makes 300kW (402 hp) + a 10kW mild hybrid system.

The C43 is a rival to great sedans like the BMW M340i ($105K) and Audi S4 ($107K). But the new AMG costs $135K.

It has ditched its old V6 engine for the new fourcylinder and in Australia is only available with 20inch wheels.
