We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Shearwater Cove in a Yurt. It was without a doubt the highlight of our time in Alaska. I kept saying "this is Alaska" the whole time we were there. I felt like it embodied everything Alaska is from the wildlife to the vast views to the total and complete seclusion. It is one of the most special places on this earth and I am convinced of that.

Our Yurt featured its own kitchenette area with utensils, a space heater, queen size bed, futon, small collection of books and board games, private porch, outdoor bathroom/shower (with hot water), cooler for food storage. With each stay you also unlimited use os the sea kayaks.

Kayaking was one of our favorite experiences while there. We went at low tide and high tide. We saw seals, sea otters, tons of birds, salmon runs it was absolutely incredible. We saw waterfalls and found hundreds of sea stars on the cliff walls. It was perfect. We kayaked into humpy cove where there was thousands of salmon swimming up stream. We pulled the kayaks out of the water and explored the area. We were even able to catch some salmon with out bare hands! It was so much fun!

Shearwater Cove is about 10 miles from Seward, AK. Transportation to the Yurts is included via a water taxi. Shearwater Cove is located between Fox Island and Humpy Cove.
