Genuine Backlinks are difficult to get. The days of posting a comment on a related or relevant blog with a link back to your site no longer work. Google knows about these links. The link juice authority is not passed as these are generally nofollow links. There is some value though as it's s genuine traffic generator if it's a highly relevant post or comments indirectly. You can focus though by collecting backlinks on social media and indexes.

Try and focus on local businesses, papers and organisations. If it's relevant or local it's going to help. I have found that providing great articles helps build genuine links to it. Videos, images, infographics all really work at the moment. Also, there is some credit to linking out if it's relevant
Make sure you add great articles with true value to your website
