A scent dog's indication should show when the dog makes a decision AND the precise location of target odor. It's very important to choose an indication, and to be consistent in rewarding only that behavior. This video captures several dogs indicating low vs. high hides. We conculde by showing how we start training a puppy to lie down with focussed attention using one indication box. IMPORTANT NOTE: The box should contain target odor, so the dog is practicing putting their nose as close to the source of target odor and indicating there to earn their reward.
