Born with myelomeningocele spina bifida, John was transferred to Children’s shortly after birth and underwent surgery on his first day of life to repair the opening in his spine. Through the Children’s robotics program, and with support from physical therapists and orthotists, John is able to walk on his own and participate in extracurricular activities, such as wheelchair basketball and horseback riding.
