Riding To Toroweep On A KLR650 - Grand Canyon Arizona

Can you ride to Toroweep on a KLR650?
Sure can!
I was actually somewhat nervous about this ride. It had been a decade since I was last at Toroweep and I knew the last few miles were pretty gnarly but I had forgotten how bad the road was. So, with that thought in my head I was hoping that I wouldn't drop the KLR even though I had the winch with me.
Turns out, the 'technical' section wasn't too bad at all and the KLR had no problems...or I should say that I had no problems riding to Toroweep. The KLR650 can handle that ride no sweat!
If you're not familiar with what or where Toroweep is, it's a magnificent view of the Grand Canyon with straight dropping cliffs to the Colorado River and the distance between the North and South Rim is only about a mile or so across. Incredible and very remote. These days you need a permit for day travel there, camping as well. You also need a park pass, either for the Grand Canyon or Intra Agency. All the things. Day permit is only $2 so I couldn't get too salty about it.
If you do the ride, come prepared. It's 120 miles round trip just on the dirt from the highway. Totally worth it!
Oh, there is no cell reception at Toroweep.
