Yes, I brought an Aprilia RS660 into White Sands National Park in New Mexico! I got some good pictures of my sportbike with the sand dunes in the background.


After visiting White Sands National Park by car (link below), I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to ride my motorcycle into the park as well. Besides, who doesn't love tourist'ing adventures on a motorcycle? Big shoutout to the very kind Park Ranger at the start. Watch to the end for a funny outro.

White Sands National Park is located in New Mexico, near Las Cruces. The road around the park, Dunes Drive, is an 8 mile (13 km) scenic drive leading from the visitor center into the heart of the dune field. The first five miles are paved and the last three miles are hardpacked gypsum sand road. The National Park service say the road is suitable for cars, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, and buses. If you do visit on your motorcycle, I recommend riding only as far as you feel comfortable. The paved road takes you far enough into the park that you could easily park and spend time checking out the dunes on foot, or access some of the hiking trails without riding on much sand. For this visit I stayed off the sand, since I didn't want to take any chances with some track days happening soon afterwards. Plus, I had already seen the dunes up close a few days prior. Getting some pictures before nightfall was my priority!
