I attended a lightwell (internal courtyard) rescue close to the Tarban Creek colony in Gladesville, where a very upset Mumma bat was trapped. Lightwells and small courtyards are traps for bats because they can't fly off the ground and they need a large turning circle to be able to circle out.
Mum Artemis and baby Aoife, came into my care overnight, and went to the Princess for buddying with her lone female who ended up in a swimming pool, whose pup drowned.
The pair of bats spent the weekend together and both were fit for a hard release after the weekend.
So the girls were released into the Tarban Creek colony, accompanied by the Princess and Maggie and the MOPs, and of course, the Princess's famous wingless pup Ayla who was required to hold onto Meg to keep her in line. And who'd have known that Maggie would be such a hit with Ayla?
