Repair DAMAGED Hydraulic Cylinder for CAT 651 Scraper | Part 2

Follow
Cutting Edge Engineering Australia

This video is Part 2 of repairing a damaged hydraulic cylinder for a Caterpillar 651 Scraper wheel tractor. This is the Apron lift cylinder on the machine and has been damaged by something causing massive amounts of scratching inside the barrel and on the piston. In this part 2 video we continue on with the new barrel and heat up with a flame torch before interference fitting the head flange. We then metal core weld the head flange on to the new barrel before finish honing the internal diameter using our Delapena vertical honing machine. The new barrel is completed with fitting and welding on the barrel end. We also repair the hydraulic cylinder piston by machining down the scratches using our lathe.
