Quick Deploy No Tie Tarp Ridge-line

When it starts to rain, you want to get under cover quickly, and if your cover is your tarp, you really want to be able to get it up as quickly as possible. In this video, we're out and about in the woods testing a quick deploy, no tie ridgeline. The line is up in less than 90 seconds and the tarp hanging about 15 seconds later. Without me yapping on, I reckon the shelter is up in less than 2 minutes. (Maybe I'll revisit this and time it let me know if you'd like to see that!)

I've seen a few videos showing various fast systems, most notably on Corporals Corner which is where I first saw the concept and decided to have a go myself. In reality, as with all of these there is a catch. While this one is "no tie" you do need to prepare your line before you go out. Prep' in this case is to create a loop at one end, using your favourite knot and add four loops using prussic friction knots..

Now originally, this was just going to be called "quick deploy", but "inanowt" turned up with a nifty bot of kit called the CamJam which we decided to incorporate, and that allowed us to add "no tie". If you wanted to do away with the marlin you could add another prussic, and CamJam, effectively giving you a truckers hitch at both ends.
