You can also make a simple ring out of airline tubing. Just connect the tubing to make a floating circle out of the tubing. This is not quite as sturdy as the basket, but does work. You can also use the tubing to designate irregular shaped areas that the floating plants do not pass.

If you have a large pond and large floating plants, you can use a hula hoop. Those comes in different sizes too.

These baskets are nice because I just need something small for now and I need the caged protection from below because some of my fish are eating the plants too. The Koi and Goldfish seem to love eating the Duckweed. To the point where I am also completely out of this plant.

With this concept, you can float a bunch of different kinds of things.
