When vacation rolls around, everyone is excited to hit the road. When vacation is over, there’s a part of you excited to get back home. Before you head off to your destination, you need to give your coach the once over. On the outside, inspect tires for uneven wear, damage, and correct tire pressure. Never let air out of a hot tire. Make sure all lug nuts are tightened according to the chassis manufacturer’s specs. Inspect windshield for damage. Inspect wiper blades and make sure that you have windshield washer fluid.
Test all exterior lights for correct function. Make sure mirrors are adjusted so that the driver can see to the rear on both sides of the unit. Make sure the shore power cord is unplugged and properly stowed. Make sure water hosed are disconnected and stowed properly. Empty your holding tanks before traveling! Make sure all valves are closed and hoses and cables are packed away. Make sure the Entry step is in the stowed position before moving the motor home. Check LP connections for leaks. Make sure all doors and drawers are secure and that all loose items are put away and/or otherwise secured.
