Preserved Railway 2022: Narrow Gauge Highlights

2022 saw the 50th Anniversary of the Bala Lake Railway, part of the lines anniversary steam gala, saw the reunion of Pecketts 'Triassic' and 'Liassic'.

Darjeeling and Himalayan Railway 19B visited Statfold Barn Railway for an Indian themed gala and associated photo charter.

At Amberley 'Peter' returned to steam following overhaul, while on the Welsh Highland in its centenary year, Russell was turned to face south and operated during a special event weekend on the northern end of the line and on a series of photo charters.

More photo charter action, this time on the Vale of Rheidol & Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway with their Great Western tank engines.

We take at look at some service trains on the Ffestiniog Railway with FR No. 2 Prince (which was withdrawn from traffic in September awaiting overhaul), Blanche and Double Fairlie Merddin Emrys.

Corpet Minas de Aller No. 2 returned to steam at Statfold and also visited the Bala Lake Railways 50th Anniversary Gala, while fellow green locomotive Dolbadarn turned 100 years old this year at the Llanberis Lake Railway.

We take a look at Penrhyn Quarry Railway tank engines at the Statfold Barn Railway, West Lancashire Light Railway, Bala Lake Railway and Ffestiniog Railway.

We have Garratt action on the Welsh Highland Railway, Vale of Rheidol Railway and Statfold Barn Railway.

At Ffestiniog, Palmerston bowed out of traffic in November, after taking part in the annual photo charters. Double Fairlies are seen on slate empties during the Bygones Weekend and annual photo charters.
