Preparing for a second wave: are we up to the test?

Follow
McGill University

As countries begin to open up their economies following the lockdown imposed by COVID19, some are asking whether a second wave of infections will strike us. Many global health experts believe the answer is yes.

What have scientists learned so far about the coronavirus and the most effective ways to slow down its spread? What role can testing play in tracking the pandemic and intervening earlier to prevent the spread of the virus, and what should countries be doing to improve the use of testing? How do we resolve citizens’ pentup desire to resume social and commercial activities with the need to remain vigilant?

Join us for a webcast with four global health experts, who are working with governments and public health authorities to prevent a more devastating second wave of COVID19 infections.

With:
Dr. Timothy Evans, Inaugural Director of McGill’s School of Population and Global Health, and head of the Secretariat overseeing Canada’s COVID19 Immunity Task Force.

Dr. Richard Menzies, Professor in McGill’s Faculty of Medicine, physician and respiratory epidemiologist at the Montreal Chest Institute, and Director of the WHOMcGill Collaborating Centre for TB Research.

Dr. Robert Hecht, Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at Yale University, and President of Pharos Global Health Advisors in Boston.

Dr. Shan SoeLin, Managing Director of Pharos Global Health Advisors, a lecturer at Yale’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, and a twotime McGill graduate, with a BSc in Microbiology & Immunology, and a PhD in Experimental Medicine.
