And there's a surprise guest appearance by our adorable new puppy! Watch as our furry friend curiously explores the world of rice, even getting a chance to savor the delectable grains.

Li Mi Fan 沥米饭 Recipe Traditional Chinese Rice Cooking

Ingredients:
500g rice
2000ml water

Instructions:

1.Wash the rice: Place the rice in a large bowl and add water. Swirl the rice gently with your hand, then pour out the cloudy water. Repeat this process at least three times until the water becomes clearer. This helps to remove any excess starch and impurities from the rice.

2.Boil the water: In a wok or a large pot, add the 2000ml of water and bring it to a boil over high heat.

3.Add the rice: Once the water is boiling, carefully add the washed rice to the pot. Stir the rice a few times to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. Allow the rice to cook for about 810 minutes, or until it is about half cooked. The grains should still have a slightly firm texture.

4.Drain the rice: Set a colander or sieve over a large bowl or pot. Gently pour the halfcooked rice into the colander, allowing the water to drain away. You can save this rice water (also known as rice soup) for drinking or use it as a base for cooking other dishes.

5.Steam the rice: Transfer the drained rice into a steamer, spreading it evenly to ensure proper steaming. Place the steamer over high heat and cover it with a lid. Steam the rice for an additional 1520 minutes, or until the grains are fully cooked and fluffy.

6.Serve and enjoy: Once the rice is done steaming, remove it from the steamer and fluff it gently with chopsticks. Your traditional Li Mi Fan is now ready to be enjoyed! Serve it alongside your favorite dishes or as a staple accompaniment to various Chinese meals.

Note: Remember to adjust the cooking time based on the type of rice you are using and personal preference. Some varieties may require slightly more or less time to cook fully. Experimentation will help you achieve the perfect texture that suits your taste.

Traditional Chinese rice cooking, like this Li Mi Fan recipe, offers a distinct and authentic way to prepare rice. The combination of boiling and steaming helps achieve a fluffy, tender texture while preserving the natural flavors of the rice. Give it a try and experience the delight of traditional Chinese cuisine in your own kitchen!
