Playing with a 7 month old Leonberger puppy
Little O gets frisky everyday and acts like a tigger. Especially now that Lucy is on bed rest until she can undergo surgery to repair her cruciate ligament. Mom is stepping in to be his playmate.
He’s carrying a “prize”. Without this prize he will still nip, not in aggression but from excitement. By having a “soother” we can play without involving any human flesh. Despite his size he is a puppy and is still learning and establishing his boundaries. Occasionally he’ll drop the toy and go for the person...and man is his jaw strong! As soon as this occurs the game is over. We have a no tolerance stance for teeth on flesh, even in fun.
As fun and sweet as Leo’s are, an untrained giant breed dog can do damage. Please do not assume you can get down into any Leonbergers face and play this game. Know your dog and tailer your behaviour accordingly.
