Shale is a 4 year old, 15 pound, tabby cat! And he is one big ball of LOVE. ❤

Shale is FIV+ ✅ so let’s talk about it! MANY people have misconceptions about what FIV+ means. I am guilty, I used to have these misconceptions too! But let me break down for you what I’ve learned:

✔FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
✔Multiple medical studies show that FIV+ cats can live just as long as cats that are FIV
✔FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives they do NOT have a higher incidence of illness
✔FIV+ cats do not infect other household pets!
✔Transmission is mainly passed from cat to cat through deep, blooddrawn wounds. Typically aggressive fights that happen outdoors over territorial disputes. (source: ASPCA)
✔Casual, nonaggressive behavior does NOT spread FIV
✔FIV+ cats can share food/water bowls with other cats AND litter boxes with your other household cats
