In our latest Employee Spotlight: Video Edition, we shine a light on Tomas Guillen, Controls Engineer at Patti Engineering. Tomas' journey with Patti Engineering began when he completed internships in 2020 and 2021, before he joined the team fulltime in 2022.

“This past December, I had my first solo flight,” said Tomas on his time at Patti. “Just me on the site floor of the facility figuring out how to commission what needed to be done. I got it working in the end and now we have the largest scale project that I've seen so far.” Tomas’ expertise in hardware design, software development, and systems integration have been exciting (and crucial) contributions to the expansive project.

Having been raised in a military household, Tomas grew up moving across multiple schools during his younger years, eventually settling at Texas A&M University. Interested in electromagnetism and electronics, Tomas pursued a degree in industrial and systems engineering, laying the foundation for his transition to the handson culture at Patti Engineering.

"Tomas’ dedication to excellence and commitment to growth are invaluable to Patti Engineering,” said Sam Hoff, CEO of Patti Engineering. “His contributions to continuous improvement truly embodies the core values of our company.”

Beyond his professional life, Tomas shared how he likes to spend his freetime, including his recent interest in growing cacti and his ongoing effort of learning the Spanish language. “A year and a half ago I bought this little cactus and it grew crazy tall. I have like seven of these; you start with one cactus, you slice it up, and then you can propagate them,” Tomas noted. “I also listen to podcasts and watch TV shows in Spanish as much as I can.”

Join us in recognizing Tomas for his commitment to Patti Engineering's success and his continued evolution as a controls engineer! “In the world of systems integration, it can feel like the depth of knowledge is never ending. Having the backup and support of the Patti Engineering team is what makes it calm in the chaos,” said Tomas.
