It took Brittany and I almost 3 years to pay off $120,000 of debt, and I can't tell you how much of a motivating factor traveling to Dave Ramsey's office in Nashville, TN and doing our debt free scream was. I thought about it at least once per day while paying off our loans.

The journey to finally becoming debt free was long and arduous, full of sacrifice and working one job after another. But what Dave says (and the research behind it) is true once you see the progress of your monthly statements going away one after the other, you get excited and want to do even more to speed up the process.

When we first started our debt free journey, our income was about $40k/year. After picking up another three or four jobs, and about 2 years later, Brittany and I had raised our income to $140k/year. During the last 12 months of paying off debt, we paid off $60,000.

And now we can say, "WE'RE DEBT FREE!"
